Koku’s Karamu
The word karamu is an African Kiswahili word meaning, “feast”. So sit down and get ready for some really delicious stories.

Around the World in Stories: This series of tales takes the audience from Africa, to Europe, to Asia,The Islands and The Americas, Everybody and every culture has a story to tell. (All Ages).
A Story for Every Season: In April, it’s Honey the Bunny, in October, Cocoa the Scarecrow, and in May, Furahah the Fairy tells fairy tales. Each month brings a different character with seasonal and holiday stories. (Pre-K only)
From Freedom to Slavery to Freedom: An assortment of true and fictional stories that explore the Black experience from Africa to America. (Middle School to Adult)
Cuz I’m A Woman! “Girl Power!”: Stories that celebrate female empowerment while nourish the feminine spirit. Men will like these too! (Middle School to Adult)
Storytelling Workshop: "Storyteller Rising": Koku teaches you to, “Run and Tell This!” A series of 12 1 ½ hour workshops that help develop speech, confidence, oratory and creative skills. These workshops end in a culminating Storytellin Concert by participants. (Ages 8 and Up)
